i didn't tip the pizza delivery guy last night

  3. So i didn't tip the pizza delivery guy last night
I paid with my credit card online. What I normally do is pay online, then give the driver cash as a tip. However last night the pizza took over 90 minutes to arrive despite the place being a few miles away from me, so I didn't tip

The guy gave me a dirty glare and said "So uh, did you leave a tip online or...?"

I responded with "uh, yeah" and shut the door. Fuck you. I'm not tipping you for cold pizza that took forever to arrive.

lol. That dude has you down in his "book". Hopefully he's not your driver the next time you order from them. You might get a little more topping than you asked for.

this. if you're gonna shaft the guy as some sort of punishment it's illogical not to inform him why he's being punished.

In my town, they usually give me heads up when I place my order if they are busy, but I always call and don't use a website which allows them to tell me that. I probably would have at least asked him what took so long.

Pretty sure he knows how long it took to deliver my pizza. 90 minutes is absolutely unacceptable and I shouldn't have to explain that to him

It's probably not the drivers fault that it took 90 minutes however 2 things.

1. He should not have even brought up the tip, I would have told him how unprofessional that is

2. As a former driver I can tell you that even prior to showing up to your house he knew he was not going to get a tip. Whenever we were swamped and I was going on runs that were 60 minutes past when they called it in I went out expecting $0 tip.

Speaking as an ex-delivery driver, if a delivery is running 90 minutes its because the store has so many deliveries that they don't have enough drivers to handle the volume in a reasonable amount of time.

But yeah, at that point, we don't expect tips, we expect pissed off customers.

Wasn't the driver's fault.

As a former pizza delivery driver, it probably wasn't his fault, but I also understand not getting a tip after 90 minutes.

I mean, you don't HAVE to do anything, but you'd get better service next time if you made him feel bad and called the manager about it (including him asking for a tip). Otherwise he can just justify it to himself as you being a bad tipper.

At the end of the day you didn't give him any money though and that's the important part. If it's the store's fault then it's on the employees to pressure management for more staff, either through discussion or refusing to work there

For someone with such a hard on for hating conservatives, you seem awfully proud that you deprived a guy making minimum wage of a few extra bucks because of something completely outside of his control. Just tip the 20%. It won't kill you.

A guy from pizza hut asked me did I tip him, I said no.

So I can relate to TC on some level when it comes to late pizza, except I'm not going to lie.
Lunar_Savage 50 minutes ago#21
So basically you're an asshole who can't read expected delivery times or bother to call the store to see how far back in line you are for delivery.

That might not be standard practice everywhere. It's just what I do: 20% if they bring the food to me, 10-15% for pickup and buffet depending on service.

I don't tip when I pick food up. One of my coworkers that did a job like that tried to explain it to me and I sorta understand what she's saying but it's like... Fuck no I'm not tipping someone because I walked up to the counter. Tipping is for sit down restaurants and delivery, nothing else.

I'm pretty sure all these smaller restaurants w/ no servers who leave a tip option when you pay could remove that option if they wanted to. They just figure it's worth it if someone does it. Not like I have detailed statistics but that's my guess

Exactly, the pizza guy isn't owed anything. Tipping is 100% up to the customer, if he can't handle that and wants to hold a grudge then he needs to find a new job.

Everyone defending the 90 min late driver can fuck off lol.

There isn't any good reason he should have got the tip for asking (which is unprofessional) and for being late without notifying the customer. Lots of times the driver helps make the pizza too.

This all falls on the stores negligence. They probably got the delivery fee out of TC initially too.

Some places tip share with kitchen staff. There's still prep for pickup, just less, which is why I tip half what I normally do.
